Galerie "Altes Haus", Frankfurter Str. 13, 63500 Seligenstadt

Exhibition “Nature untamed” in 4 different forms – Seligenstadt

Nature can exist without humans, but not vice versa

Four artists show their view of the forces of nature.

Spring shows its colours and its strength. It is so pleasant to enjoy the peaceful sky. But nature continues its movement in eternity, it does not stop its course of development. In the second part of the nature exhibition, Christine Fiebig, Isabelle Dutoit, Felicitas von Lutzau and Jan Davidoff talk about the secrets of nature and its wild power.

  • Isabelle Dutoit tells the story of wild animals whose images are deeply engraved in our mythological consciousness and which we respect, love and fear. But the world that we ourselves, without realising it, have grossly destroyed and continue to destroy. Man is the “king of the animals”, but he is a tyrant, deprived of the connection with his kingdom. Will we be able to re-establish contact with this kingdom?
  • Jan Davidoff is dedicated to the power of the forest and shows it from the most bizarre angles. His depictions of the forest are not a calm and peaceful idyll; his forest is a violent and dramatic world.
  • Christine Fiebig creates graphic paintings inspired by the works of Asian masters of ink painting. They are full of images on the border between reality and abstraction and tell the viewer stories in an almost fairytale-like way. But this is precisely what makes her paintings of a calm or violent nature so captivating.
  • Are you afraid of the dark, and are you afraid of the forest? Or are you perhaps afraid of your thoughts in this forest? Felicitas von Lutzau takes you on a photographic journey into a mysterious world and invites you to look boldly into the thicket.

Which artist’s voice has touched you the most and which spiritual worlds are you ready to immerse yourself in? Come to the exhibition to experience this tangible and intangible world at the same time!

Evening of lively Latin American music with HUEPA Band – Seligenstadt

An evening of colourful Latin American music with HUEPA

Winter is coming to an end, the end of the cold season and house parties. It’s time to warm up to the sounds of Latin American music from the Caribbean to Argentina: Salsa, Samba, Sona, Chachacha and Merengue. If you like dancing and explosive music, this evening is just right for you.
The band HUEPA will be playing for you on 22 February. “Hueeepaa!” – shout enthusiastic Latinos as they celebrate, dance and sing along. But HUEPA also interprets lesser-known Latin American music styles such as cumbia, joropo, mozambique and chorinho in a very authentic way. This music will get everyone dancing. Their repertoire includes Latin American classics, rarely heard “finds” and original compositions. HUEPA consists of the charismatic singer Cary Cuellar from Cuba, Horst Bittlinger (piano), Stuart Lawrence (trumpet and flugelhorn), Richard Schmitt-Güngerich (bass) as well as Daniel Menge and Katja Braun (percussion).

Come and awaken the spirit of summer in your hearts!

  • Romana Menze-Kuhn, whose colourful and energetic works take a look at a world in which humans have gone too far in their attempts to artificially alter nature.

Art exhibition ‘Nature – Reality and Imagination’ – Seligenstadt

Nature, reality and imagination: indulge in illusions or learn and observe?

The world is changing again, nature is knocking on our door and changing our lives. And we observe the forces of nature and are not always able to understand them. This year, climate change has struck again throughout Europe: square kilometres in Germany have been flooded. Why is that? Why are we unable to reverse the climate trend and where do we look for the answer?

The four beautiful artists Georgia Wilhelm, Romana Menze-Kuhn, Petra Maria Mühl and Ulrike Donié have prepared an exhibition on this topic for their viewers in collaboration with the Kunstforum Seligenstadt. In the exhibition Nature – ‘Reality and Imagination’, four visions of nature enter into a mutual dialogue.

  • Georgia Wilhelm’s hyper-realistic paintings offer an insight into the beauty of nature in the moment. She immerses us in the blossoming of life and pays attention to every little detail.
  • With her works, Petra Maria Mühl answers the question: “What passes? What does it look like for us when we realise that nature can forget, fade, pass away? What is this process of decay and how do we experience it?
  • Romana Menze-Kuhn talks about the contact between man and nature, about how man can artificially and sometimes blindly reshape nature following an idea without realising what he has done. Her powerful works in this exhibition are poignant and relevant.
  • Ulrike Donié immerses us in a completely illusory world of nature, a fictitious nature, a virtual nature. What happens when you hide in the thicket of such an imaginary forest? Is it possible to find the way back to the truth? You can immerse yourself in this dialogue by visiting the exhibition Nature – ‘Reality and Imagination’.

And at the artist talk ‘Wine, Water, Words on Art’ on 3 March at 16:00, you will have the opportunity to speak directly with the artists.

And may we come closer to ourselves, to nature and to the answers through art!

Vernissage: Sunday, 14 January, 17:00

Opening hours: Fr., Sat., Sun. and public holidays from 15:00 to 18:00 and by appointment

We look forward to your participation in the exhibition and look forward to seeing you!

Kunstarche Wiesbaden, Im Rad 42 · 65197 Wiesbaden

A special feeling. Wiesbaden artist exhibition in the Kunstarche – Wiesbaden

Immerse yourself in a special feeling. Wiesbaden artists’ exhibition “Willst Du in Künstlers Lande gehen?” at the Kunstarche.

At the end of the year, the Kunstarche prepared a special exhibition for its visitors. It aims to convey a different view of the world through the special individual world views of 11 artists. These mental spaces show how different and sometimes contrary artists’ views and world views can be.

The thoughts of 11 virtuoso artists (in alphabetical order):

  • Heidi Bastian (estate),
  • Bernd Brach,
  • Ihren Einsatz
  • Arnold Gorski,
  • Udo W. Gottfried,
  • Gertraud Hasselbach,
  • Dr Günter Lehr,
  • Johannes Ludwig,
  • Wolff Mirus,
  • Renate Reifert,
  • Gunhild Scharpff.
will be present before you in various realisations.

Johannis Ludwig shares with you the joy of observing the light that illuminates the most peculiar feelings in his paintings. At the same time, Renate Reifert shows the refraction of light and the realisation of the inner spirit in a completely different way in her aerial paintings. Bernd Brach brings the sounds of music and rhythm to life in a completely different, cheerful and energetic way in his colourful works.

Heidi Bastian (2022), who left us so early, addresses the contact with the world and nature through her otherworldly, quiet and still, yet clearly perceptible paintings. Her ideas are complemented by Gertraud Hasselbach, who enters into a dialogue with nature with her three-dimensional drawing sculptures.

But it’s difficult to describe in words, it’s best to come and see for yourself!

Come to this exhibition to have an unheard dialogue with these 11 artists.

Opening: Sunday 12 November 2023, 11.30 am with an introduction by Rolf Weber-Schmidt

LUCIA CIRILLO, the beautiful, versatile star of European opera, and DIEGO FASOLIS, the Swiss maestro who is able to stage musical works like no other, want to immerse their audiences in the world of Baroque and invite them to their concert “Dramma furioso”. Cycle tour from Seligenstadt to the Messel Palaeontological Centre and back

A bicycle tour that takes you back 48 million years into the past from Seligenstadt!

I love cycling, and I especially love doing it for a cause. This time I propose that we cycle together from Seligenstadt to Messel. We will visit the palaeontology centre World Heritage Site Grübe Messel and immerse ourselves in the history of our Earth’s distant past 48 million years ago!

The Messel Pit is a window into time. Geologists date the pit’s shale fill to about 1 million years ago, formed about 48 million years ago! The shale rests in a Maar volcano whose eruption was recorded in rocks from a borehole at a depth of 433 metres. Wow, a volcano in the middle of Germany, I can’t believe it! But all these events from the deep past can be pointed out by modern science to guide us through the amazing processes that have taken place on Earth.

Personally, this makes me shudder, what about you?
If this idea appeals to you, join the bike ride and let’s spend the weekend being active!

Date change! Due to the illness of the organiser, the event is postponed to 30 September

Ride info:
– The route is 31 km (1.5 hours) one way, with little elevation change, so it’s an easy ride!
– Admission to the centre costs €10 for adults, the tour itself is free.
– The weather on 30 September is supposed to be sunny, you can follow the weather in the app.

Hope to see you on this trip!

Immerse yourself in the art of mural painting – Seligenstadt

At this event you can experience what it was like to be an artist in the Middle Ages and what it was like to create a mural today and back then.

Experience the process of creating a mural first-hand in a series of guided tours. Perfect for artists and art lovers.

The workshop series “Historic Building Site – Mural Painting” is a three-part offer that builds on each other. All three workshops are booked as a package.

The first unit includes a guided tour of the rooms in the monastery with wall paintings (summer refectory and library). Special attention will be paid to the function and technology of the wall paintings.

Afterwards, painting sketches will be prepared. The participants will select a detail of the painting on site, in the summer refectory during the warm season and in the library during the cold season. Then they sketch their own designs.

In the second course unit, the participants learn how to make mortar and paint. They create their own plaster boards and transfer the painting sketches from unit 1 using a stencil.

In the third course unit, paintings are created. For this, the specially created stains are used to make the paintings.

Excursion: monk’s pepper – murder in the monastery – Seligenstadt

A detective excursion based on a book by Roman Kempf!

The blossoming garden of the peaceful monastery is overshadowed by a dark event: Pater Salomon is found dead. The venerable had no health complaints and his death was completely unexpected. Everything indicates that it was not an accident. After all, a note was found next to the dead body: “Nature knows neither good nor evil – only man makes medicine or poison out of plants”.

On this tour you will learn all the details of this convoluted story. Afterwards there will be a light snack.

Mindful Tennis – Impulse lecture – The art of playing tennis calmly and successfully – Seligenstadt

????????????

A lecture that will help you become even more aware of your “inner game” and give you the impetus to play tennis more calmly and with more joy.

Tennis is a game in which we prove ourselves over and over again. On the one hand we play against an opponent. But above all, we play against ourselves. The visible side of the game is technique, tactics, coordination and endurance. This is what we are used to. But the inner side of the game is invisible. But lack of concentration, self-doubt and self-criticism is something that affects the game much more. But for some reason it is often underestimated, and yet it is crucial on the playing field.

After listening to this talk, you will find the answers for yourself on how to find more mental strength during a tennis match and develop the composure that supports your game.

Theatrical readings “Have cottages, there we would live” – Seligenstadt

The touching, funny and sometimes ironic story “Have cottages. That’s where we’d live” returns to the audience.

The two actors and presenters Annette Schiedeck and Jens-Uwe Krause take their audience into the wonderful world of personals.
The unusual text, which combines grace, irony, wit and comedy, is presented to the audience in the form of theatrical readings and tells the story of “partner prose”. Almost all the excesses of human life can be found in this story: lies, jokes, demands and poetry. Sometimes in a comical way, but often unintentionally funny.

Come and enjoy an unusual story performed by a wonderful cast.
